Backstory
From Josh:
I didn’t get into mountain biking until my son came to visit me in AZ in 2017. We rented a couple of mountain bikes and rode nearly 50 miles in 4 days, starting in the Phoenix Valley and then ending in Prescott, AZ. We had a blast riding and it opened up my eyes to all the trails I had close to me to ride. Soon after this trip I purchased my first MTB, which was a Trek Superfly XC bike and off I went. Unfortunately, the first weekend I rode my new (to me) bike I broke my hand in a weird fall. I was off the bike for a few months but as soon as I was able to ride again, I was off. The next year I planned a trip to Whistler, BC with my son which we each had never been on downhill trails. The trip was incredible and fueled my love for the sport and even better it was something I could share with my son which I loved.
In 2020, I had a friend help me create the MTN BIKING LIFE logo because I felt compelled to have fun and create something. Got some t-shirts created with the logo and another saying “Just Send It”, took some pics on Facebook, and posted to see if anyone wanted to buy some. I thought it was crazy, but people did. Next, I created logo stickers and handed them out on all the group rides I was going on at that time, and people thought the logo was cool and wanted to see more of what I would create apparel wise. Next, was hats, jerseys, pint and rocks glasses. Then, a tent for events which I made my way around the state for races and festivals, and becoming a very proud sponsor for the Arizona Cycling Association (ACA) which promotes more kids on bikes.
I never thought I was creative, but I have proven myself wrong, and truthfully, it’s one of the coolest things for me to see is riding on trails and people have MTN BIKING LIFE apparel on, or stickers on vehicles I pass by, or an ambassador getting my logo tattooed onto his calve. I love it and am proud of what I have created, but more importantly, I see this as a way to connect with others that absolutely love to mountain bike. We are all the same when it comes to that, we ride when we can, we do it because it supports our physical, mental and emotional well-being, and connection with nature. It’s a way to step away from all the things that can bog us down in a day (family, work, bills, etc).
I have used mountain biking to travel the world, see incredible sights and have new adventures with amazing people. I love the sport and am grateful what I have received because of it, and I use MTN BIKING LIFE as a tool to give a little bit back to those who love the sport as I do.
